As leading suppliers of aluminum conduit, American Conduit is equipped to meet your needs for 4-inch EMT conduit. We offer coast to coast distribution through a network of more than 20 stocking warehouses and representatives across the nation.

4 Inch EMT Conduit

American Conduit is a product brand of Hydro, the largest aluminum extruder in the world. With 23 plant locations, 10 paint lines, and 4 anodizing lines, we produce in excess of 550 million pounds of extrusions per year.

Our aluminum EMT and RMC products adhere to all applicable provisions of the National Electric Code® (NEC), the Underwriters Laboratories, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and federal specifications.

About Electrical Conduit

Electrical conduit is tubing that is used to provide a route for electrical wiring in a building or structure. It can be made of metal (galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless steel) or plastic materials and is either rigid or flexible.

Electrical metallic tubing (EMT), also called “thin-wall” conduit because it is thin and lightweight, can be used indoors and outdoors to protect enclosed electrical conductors from impact, moisture and chemical vapors.

American Conduit manufactures Aluminum Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) in diameters from ½-inch to 4-inches in a wide range of lengths. We also manufacture Rigid Aluminum Metal Conduit (RMC) in diameters from ½-inch to 6-inches and a wide range of lengths.

Our PullEase aluminum EMT is manufactured with a high purity 6000 series aluminum alloy that ensures excellent strength and exceptional corrosion resistance. Our aluminum RMC is manufactured with a high purity 6063 alloy, T-1 temper, a “marine grade” alloy that ensures maximum performance in electrical installations.

For your joining needs, combine conduit, couplings, and elbows to create the perfect system for your installation. We have rigid aluminum conduit couplings and rigid aluminum conduit elbows available in a range of sizes to match your aluminum conduit order.

Advantages of Aluminum Conduit

Conduit materials are typically selected for their mechanical protection, corrosion resistance, and overall installation cost. If you have always used galvanized steel conduit, you will find that aluminum offers many advantages, including:

  • Cost per pound savings: Today, utilizing rigid aluminum conduit results in cost per pound savings of 40% to 60% compared to rigid steel conduit.
  • Labor savings. Aluminum’s light weight makes it easy to work with. For example, a standard 10-foot length of 4-inch rigid steel conduit weighs nearly 100 pounds and requires two people to carry and place it. The same length of rigid aluminum conduit weighs just 34 pounds and can be handled by one person. This results in fewer workplace injuries and labor savings of 35% to 75% versus rigid steel. The larger the conduit size, the greater the savings.
  • Corrosion resistance: One of aluminum’s greatest attributes is its natural rust and corrosion resistance which is greater than steel’s. This makes it an excellent choice for highly corrosive industrial environments, such as sewage plants, water treatment stations, filtration plants, and chemical plants.
  • Reflective and non-magnetic: Aluminum can be used to reflect visible light and radiated heat, making it extremely effective as an electrical conduit. It is also non-magnetic and useful for high-voltage applications and anywhere magnetic fields come into play.
