A lot of people are under the mistaken impression that it’s difficult to run electrical through aluminum conduit. But actually, the opposite is true. You can pull wiring and cables just as easily through aluminum as you can steel. In fact, as you’ll soon learn, there are a lot of reasons why aluminum will always be your best option when it comes to conduit. American Conduit can help you with all your conduit needs, and we are committed to total customer satisfaction.

Why American Conduit?

Run Electrical Through Aluminum ConduitAmerican Conduit has provided companies all over the country with aluminum conduit for more than 30 years. We not only have a nearly unlimited supply of conduit, we have more than 30 distributors across the U.S., along with more than 20 warehouses. When you need conduit, we’ll have it – and you can rest assured we’ll get it to you very quickly.

How can we have such an extensive supply? We are part of Hydro, the leader in aluminum extrusion. Since we have so much aluminum on hand, we can provide you conduit at extremely affordable prices. You’ll not only avoid downtime, you’ll also pay a lot less than you would if you went through another supplier.

But just because our prices are fair, that doesn’t mean you’ll be sacrificing quality in any manner whatsoever. We treat our aluminum with 6000 series alloys. As a result, our conduit is incredibly strong, and incredibly resilient. It will come through time after time, no matter what kinds of challenges you throw its way.

The Tale of the Tape – Aluminum Vs. Steel

When you look at all the ways in which aluminum is superior to steel, you might wonder why anyone would use steel in the first place. Here are just some of the many reasons why aluminum should be your first – and only – choice when it comes to conduit.

  • Strength – Aluminum weighs a fraction of the amount of steel. A 10-foot section of steel conduit weighs about 100 pounds, while the same length of aluminum conduit weight closer to 30. That’s one of the reasons why it’s so inexpensive. But there’s another, less obvious reason – labor costs. You won’t need to devote nearly as many workers to an aluminum conduit installation as you would if they were installing steel conduit.
  • Durability – You’ve no doubt seen the effects of oxygen on steel. Rusted steel is an example of oxidization at work. Would you trust putting your valuable wiring in steel conduit, knowing that it’s very likely the conduit will degrade? Aluminum doesn’t rust. Actually, when aluminum is exposed to oxygen, it forms a thin film of a substance known as aluminum oxide. That protects it from corrosion.
  • Flexibility – If you bought steel conduit, you’d probably also need to buy special tools in order to bend or cut it. That won’t be necessary with aluminum. Whatever tools you have on hand will be all you need.
