What is PullEase Aluminum EMT?

Our PullEase aluminum EMT (electrical metallic tubing) is one of the most popular forms of conduit. Also often referred to as “thin-wall” conduit, EMT provides an incredibly simple and convenient way to pull wiring and cables. But even though it’s very easy to cut and bend, that doesn’t mean it’s not strong. EMT is tough enough to handle challenging environments – even ones filled with chemicals and moisture.

You’ll find PullEase aluminum EMT in not just commercial environments, but also industrial applications. It’s a great deal lighter than steel, but it’s just as strong. Because it’s so light, aluminum costs anywhere from 40-60 percent less than steel. We’ve helped customers save hundreds of thousands of dollars on projects just because they made the switch to aluminum.

Another reason aluminum is better than steel is durability. Aluminum has a natural layer of aluminum oxide that protects it from rust or corrosion. Steel, on the other hand, does not. Unless it’s coated with expensive materials, steel will degrade over time. This, of course, will expose the delicate wiring within to damage from the elements, chemicals and even insects.

If you’re still not convinced, here are a few other quick reasons why you should seriously consider switching from steel conduit to aluminum.

  • Have you ever touched steel by accident on a very hot or cold day? It hurt, didn’t it? That’s not a problem with aluminum, because it has excellent thermal conductivity. You can grasp it no matter that the outside temperatures may be.
  • If you use steel conduit in a volatile environment, you’re taking a major risk. Steel can emit sparks, which, of course, can lead to disaster. Aluminum isn’t combustible, so you can use it wherever you like. Also, aluminum won’t emit toxic fumes, like steel conduit often does.
  • Environmental friendliness is yet another reason to consider aluminum. You might not know this, but about 75 percent of all aluminum ever produced is still being used. Aluminum will never lose any of its strength, its durability or any of its other characteristics, no matter how many times it’s recycled.
