Electrical conduit is an integral part of commercial and industrial operations around the world. In order for electrical and other types of equipment to work properly, they need reliable wiring and cabling. In order for those wires and cables to work, they need protection from the elements, accidental impacts, and moist or corrosive environments. That’s where conduit comes in. American Conduit is the undisputed leader in aluminum conduit, and we’ve been a leader for nearly 40 years.

What Makes American Conduit the Go-To Source?

Electrical ConduitThere are a lot of reasons why you should always turn to American Conduit before even considering any other supplier. Our aluminum conduit is as rugged and strong as steel, yet it costs a great deal less. Thanks to our relationship with the global leader in aluminum extrusion, Hydro, we have a virtually unlimited supply of conduit. As a result, we can sell our products at prices that are far more affordable than many other companies can. Just as important, we can ensure that you’ll never have to deal with expensive downtime because we’ll get you the conduit you need efficiently and quickly.

Types of Electrical Conduit We Carry

There are two main kinds of aluminum conduit we offer – EasyPull EMT (electrical metallic tubing) and RMC (rigid metal conduit). Here’s a brief look at each.

EMT – Even though EMT has the word “tubing” in its name, for all intents and purposes it’s conduit. EMT has thin walls that are unthreaded, so it’s the ideal type of conduit for use indoors. Our EasyPull EMT, as the name implies, is incredibly convenient when it comes to pulling cables and wires. It’s also very lightweight, and easy to cut and bend.

There are a few instances where you can use EMT outside. However, you need to make sure that the setscrews and clamps are made of materials that won’t corrode.

RMC – RMC, on the other hand, is typically designed for outdoor use. It’s a lot thicker than EMT, and better able to withstand harsh environments. RMC also does an excellent job of blocking electromagnetic interference that wires can sometimes emit. That will keep sensitive electronic equipment performing as normal.

Why Use Aluminum?

If you think steel is the only material that should be used in conduit, we encourage you to think again. Our aluminum is not only more durable than steel, it’s also just as strong. Aluminum is about 30 percent the weight of steel, so you’ll save money as well. Not only will you save on the conduit itself, you’ll also save on labor. It will take fewer workers to move and install aluminum conduit.

There are other reasons aluminum is a better choice than steel. Aluminum is a much safer material. It doesn’t emit sparks, and it’s always safe to touch – regardless of the outside temperature.
