The same section of steel conduit would take two workers, because it weighs more than 100 pounds.
- How easy is it to bend and cut aluminum? – It’s a lot easier than steel. You won’t need to purchase any special tools – you can use the ones you probably already have. Also, it’s just as easy to pull wiring through aluminum conduit as it is to pull it through steel.
- Does aluminum meet the same industry standards as steel? – All of the aluminum conduit we sell not only meets those standards, it also exceeds them. Our conduit meets UL06A, Federal Spec WW-C-540C, ANSI C80.5 and many other codes.
- Is there any application where you can’t use aluminum? – We do not recommend using basic aluminum conduit if you plan to set it in wet concrete. You should use rigid aluminum conduit coated with PVC instead. The same goes for environments that include chemicals with a chlorine base. These can dissolve both steel and regular aluminum conduit.
