Companies in just about any type of industry you can name need conduit pipe for electrical wiring. Many people across these industries are still operating under the mistaken impression that steel is the best material for conduit. At American Conduit, we are proud to only sell aluminum conduit – just like we have for more than three decades. Once you learn why aluminum is so much better than steel, we hope you’ll make the switch.

Products We Offer

Conduit Pipe For Electrical WiringChoosing the right type of electrical conduit is critical, because it’s the conduit that provides a path for your essential wiring. But more than that, it protects that wiring as well. Conduit can be made of either aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel or plastic, and can be either flexible or rigid.

American Conduit offers a wide selection of aluminum conduit, ranging in width from ½ inch to as large as 6 inches. We also carry a vast selection of different lengths. Our company has a nationwide network of distributors, as well as warehouses strategically located across the country. As a result, you’ll not only find exactly the right kind of conduit, you’ll also get it fast.

Why Aluminum is the Right Choice

We get a lot of questions from customers who wonder why we believe aluminum is the best choice for their conduit needs. Here are a few of the more common questions we receive, as well as the answers.

  • Why does aluminum conduit cost so much less than steel? – The reason is that aluminum is a whopping 30 percent lighter than steel. It’s also a lot easier to move and install. You’ll not only pay less for materials and shipping, you can also save on your labor costs. It only takes one worker to carry and install a 10-foot section of conduit, which weighs less than 35 pounds. The same section of steel conduit would take two workers, because it weighs more than 100 pounds.
  • How easy is it to bend and cut aluminum? – It’s a lot easier than steel. You won’t need to purchase any special tools – you can use the ones you probably already have. Also, it’s just as easy to pull wiring through aluminum conduit as it is to pull it through steel.
  • Does aluminum meet the same industry standards as steel? – All of the aluminum conduit we sell not only meets those standards, it also exceeds them. Our conduit meets UL06A, Federal Spec WW-C-540C, ANSI C80.5 and many other codes.
  • Is there any application where you can’t use aluminum? – We do not recommend using basic aluminum conduit if you plan to set it in wet concrete. You should use rigid aluminum conduit coated with PVC instead. The same goes for environments that include chemicals with a chlorine base. These can dissolve both steel and regular aluminum conduit.
