When your project in Michigan calls for conduit, you can realize considerable savings by choosing aluminum. As leading nationwide suppliers of aluminum conduit and our patented PullEase EMT tubing, American Conduit has 35 years of experience and can help you control project costs.

Aluminum Conduit & EMT Suppliers Michigan

American Conduit is a product brand of Hydro, a fully integrated aluminum company that serves about 30,000 customers globally. We provide rigid aluminum conduit and aluminum electrical metallic tubing to customers from coast to coast in a wide range of lengths and diameters to suit even your most complex applications.

Types of Metal Conduit

Rigid Metal Conduit (RMC) – RMC is a thick-walled, threaded tubing that is connected by screwing connectors to the main tubes. It protects the cables inside from damage, impact and electromagnetic interference, which can be harmful to sensitive equipment.

The most commonly used form of RMC in commercial and industrial buildings is made from galvanized steel. However, its thick walls make it much heavier and, consequently more difficult to lift and move. The threaded connections also require more labor to install. More labor equates to greater expense.

American Conduit’s rigid aluminum conduit provides lightweight, non-magnetic, non-sparking solutions for dry, wet, clean, harsh or hazardous applications.  It is made with a high purity 6063 aluminum alloy, T-1 temper, which ensures excellent strength and corrosion resistance.

Our aluminum RMC offers material savings of 10% to 20% per foot compared to rigid steel, as well as labor savings of 35% to 75%.  Unlike steel conduit, it requires no painting, extra coatings or treatment, and is virtually maintenance free, maintaining its physical properties even after extended outdoor exposure.

Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) – EMT is an unthreaded, thin-walled tubing that is used indoors and outdoors to protect enclosed electrical conductors from impact, moisture and chemical vapors. Although often referred to as “conduit,” EMT is technically tubing.

EMT is connected using clamp-type fittings that slide onto the tubing and are secured with a set-screw.  It is popular in commercial and industrial applications because it is lighter and thinner than rigid metal conduit and relatively easy to bend and cut. Outdoor installation requires fittings, supports and fasteners made of corrosion-resistant materials.

Although steel EMT is more common, PullEase aluminum EMT from American Conduit is less expensive than its galvanized steel counterpart based primarily on material weight and ease of installation. It enables you to save thousands of dollars on a typical job.

PullEase aluminum EMT is a patented design with ridged interior making wires very easy to pull compared to smooth wall aluminum EMT products. No lubrication is required to achieve fast, easy pulls.

Aluminum EMT is generally used in applications that require a higher resistance to corrosion, such as in food processing plants where large amounts of water and chemicals make galvanized steel EMT unsuitable.

When you need rigid aluminum conduit or EMT for your Michigan project, consider the many advantages of choosing aluminum instead of steel. As leading suppliers, American Conduit has nearly 1 million pounds of material in stock and ready to ship. Give us a call at 1.800.334.6825 or request a quotation today.
