Aluminum conduit costs less and installs faster than steel conduit. As leading suppliers of aluminum conduit and EMT in Illinois, American Conduit has the products and expertise to help your large projects flow smoothly.

Aluminum Conduit & EMT Suppliers Illinois

American Conduit is a product brand of Hydro, the world’s leading integrated aluminum company with activities in about 40 countries. We offer 35-plus years of experience in the production of rigid aluminum conduit and aluminum electrical metallic tubing, with multiple stocking warehouses throughout the nation and coast to coast distribution.

We manufacture our patented PullEase Aluminum Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) in diameters from ½-inch to 4-inches in a wide range of lengths. Rigid Aluminum Metal Conduit (RMC) is available in diameters from ½-inch to 6-inches in a wide range of lengths.

For your joining needs, combine conduit, couplings, and elbows to create the perfect system for your installation. We have rigid aluminum conduit couplings and rigid aluminum conduit elbows available in a range of sizes to match your aluminum conduit order.

Aluminum EMT and Its Uses

Electrical metallic tubing (EMT) is an unthreaded, thin-walled tubing, generally made of galvanized steel or aluminum. Although often called “conduit,” it is technically considered tubing. It is used to protect electrical wiring from moisture, chemicals, and even from pests that can chew through wiring and cause a short.

PullEase is our patented aluminum EMT product designed to make wires very easy to pull. Our ridged interior design reduces surface friction. PullEase is simple to pull, with no lubrication required.

EMT is connected using clamp-type fittings that slide onto the tubing and are secured with a set-screw.  It is popular in commercial and industrial applications because it is lighter and thinner than rigid metal conduit and is relatively easy to bend and cut.

Aluminum EMT excels in applications that require a higher resistance to corrosion, such as in food processing plants, where large amounts of water and chemicals make galvanized steel EMT unsuitable. It also helps block the electromagnetic radiation emitted by electrical circuits that causes unwanted interference and noise, and provides greater protection from fire and explosions by preventing the flow of flammable gases and fumes from volatile substances.

Aluminum RMC and Its Uses

Rigid metal conduit is a thick-walled, threaded tubing that is connected by screwing connectors to the main tubes. It protects the cables and wiring inside from damage, impact, and electromagnetic interference, which can be harmful to sensitive equipment.

The most commonly used form of RMC in commercial and industrial buildings is made of galvanized steel, but rigid aluminum conduit from American Conduit provides lightweight, non-magnetic, non-sparking solutions for dry, wet, clean, harsh or hazardous applications.

The conduit is made with a high purity 6063 aluminum alloy, T-1 temper, which ensures excellent strength and corrosion resistance. Engineers, contractors and construction managers are choosing aluminum RMC over steel RMC for cost-per-foot savings of 10% to 20%, labor savings of 35% to 75%, easier maneuverability and faster installation.
