Why Choose PullEase Aluminum EMT?

EMT is an unthreaded, thin-walled tubing that is typically made of galvanized steel or aluminum. Although often called “thin-wall conduit,” EMT is technically considered tubing. PullEase is a patented aluminum EMT design that reduces internal friction during wire pulling.

Aluminum EMT is connected by means of clamp-type fittings that slide onto the tubing and are secured with a set-screw. This is a major advantage over steel EMT, especially when following irregular or curved building profiles.

EMT is popular in commercial and industrial applications because it offers both physical protection and corrosion resistance and can be used in exposed, concealed or wet locations. It is also useful as an equipment grounding conductor. It eliminates the need for a separate grounding conductor and simplifies future wiring changes.

The advantages include:

  1. Lower cost: PullEase aluminum EMT is less expensive than its galvanized steel counterpart based primarily on the weight of the material and the ease of installation. Use it and save thousands of dollars on a typical job.
  2. Strength and weight: Aluminum has an extremely high tensile strength. It is about 30% the weight of steel but similar in strength.  The light weight means that it is less costly to ship and requires less manpower to maneuver and install. A standard 10-foot length of 4-inch rigid steel conduit, for example, weighs about 98 pounds and requires two people to carry and place it. The same length of aluminum conduit weighs only 34 pounds and can be handled by one person.
  3. Rust and corrosion: Unlike steel, which must be galvanized with a protective zinc coating to prevent rusting, aluminum is naturally rust- and corrosion-resistant without any extra treatment. It won’t rust or discolor even after extended outdoor exposure. It is an excellent solution for applications where steel tubing can’t be used due to large amounts of water or chemicals, such as in food processing plants.
  4. Thermal conductivity: Aluminum alloys get stronger at low temperatures without losing quality, making them ideal for use in cold weather applications. Aluminum also conducts heat well and will always remain cool to the touch (a safety advantage).
  5. Non-sparking: Unlike steel, aluminum EMT conduit is non-sparking. This reduces the risk of explosion in volatile environments.
  6. Recyclable: Aluminum is the ultimate green material. It can be recycled repeatedly without losing any of its superb characteristics.
