American Conduit produces a comprehensive line of aluminum EMT conduit in diameters from ½-inch to 4-inches and in a wide range of lengths that will meet your most challenging needs. Our PullEase patented easy to pull EMT uses a proprietary ridged internal design to reduce friction and make pulling wire easy.

1/2 Inch EMT Conduit

American Conduit is a product brand of Hydro, the largest aluminum extruder in the world. Hydro Extrusion North America includes 23 plant locations, 10 paint lines, and 4 anodizing lines. The company produces over 550 million pounds of extrusions per year.

American Conduit is produced at Hydro’s extrusion facility in St. Augustine, Florida. We offer coast to coast distribution through a network of more than 20 stocking warehouses and 33 representatives nationwide.

Why Choose Aluminum EMT?

Electrical metallic tubing (EMT) is used indoors and outdoors to protect enclosed electrical conductors from impact, moisture and chemical vapors. It is often called “conduit,” but EMT is technically tubing.

Aluminum EMT conduit is lighter than steel and iron, and some alloys are stronger than some steel alloys. It offers many other advantages compared to steel EMT:

  1. Lower cost: Aluminum EMT is less expensive than its galvanized steel counterpart based primarily on the weight of the material and the ease of installation. Use it and save thousands of dollars on a typical job.
  2. Strength and weight: Aluminum has an extremely high tensile strength. It is about 30% the weight of steel but similar in strength.  The light weight means that it is less costly to ship and requires less manpower to maneuver and install. A standard 10-foot length of 4-inch rigid steel conduit, for example, weighs about 98 pounds and requires two people to carry and place it. The same length of rigid aluminum conduit weighs only 34 pounds and can be handled by a single person.
  3. Rust and corrosion: Unlike steel, which has to be galvanized with a protective zinc coating to prevent rusting, aluminum is naturally rust- and corrosion-resistant without any extra treatment. It won’t rust or discolor even after extended outdoor exposure. It is an excellent solution for applications where steel tubing can’t be used because of large amounts of water or chemicals, such as in food processing plants.
  4. Thermal conductivity: At low temperatures, aluminum alloys get stronger without losing quality, making them outstanding for use in cold weather applications. Aluminum also conducts heat well and will not heat up in the sun (a safety advantage).
  5. Non-sparking: Unlike steel, aluminum EMT conduit is non-sparking. This reduces the risk of explosion in volatile environments.
  6. Recyclable: Aluminum is the ultimate green material. It can be recycled repeatedly without losing any of its superb characteristics.
