When your project calls for 1 1/4-inch rigid aluminum conduit, American Conduit has the ability to meet your needs. Our mission is to support our customers’ success by creating exceptional value through innovative product and service solutions.

1 1/4 Inch Rigid Aluminum ConduitWe are a product brand of Hydro, the largest aluminum extruder in the world. Hydro Extrusion North America includes 23 plant locations, 10 paint lines, and 4 anodizing lines. The company produces over 550 million pounds of extrusions per year.

American Conduit products are produced at Hydro’s extrusion facility in St. Augustine, Florida. We offer coast to coast distribution through a network of more than 20 stocking warehouses and 33 representatives nationwide.

What is Electrical Conduit?

Electrical conduit is a path for either power or communication (low voltage) electrical wiring. It is usually tubular and made of metal (galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless steel) or non-metallic materials (plastics), and is either rigid or flexible. Conduit materials are typically chosen for their mechanical protection, corrosion resistance, and overall installation cost.

American Conduit manufactures Rigid Aluminum Metal Conduit (RMC) in diameters from ½-inch to 6-inches in a wide range of lengths.  Aluminum Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) is also available in diameters from ½-inch to 4-inches in a wide range of lengths.

Our aluminum RMC is manufactured with a high purity 6063 alloy, T-1 temper, a “marine grade” alloy that ensures maximum performance in electrical installations. Our aluminum EMT is manufactured with a high purity 6005 aluminum alloy that ensures excellent strength and exceptional corrosion resistance.

For your joining needs, combine conduit, couplings, and elbows to create the perfect system for your installation. We have rigid aluminum conduit couplings and rigid aluminum conduit elbows available in a range of sizes to match your aluminum conduit order.

Benefits of Aluminum Conduit

If you are accustomed to utilizing galvanized steel conduit, you will find that aluminum offers many advantages, including:

  • Cost per pound savings: Today, utilizing rigid aluminum conduit results in cost per pound savings of 40% to 60% compared to rigid steel conduit.
  • Lower installation cost. The light weight of aluminum conduit makes it easy to work with. A standard 10’ length of 4-inch rigid steel conduit, for example, weighs nearly 100 pounds and requires two people to carry and place it. The same length of rigid aluminum conduit weighs just 34 pounds and can be handled by one person. This equates to fewer workplace injuries and labor savings of 35% to 75% versus rigid steel. The larger the conduit size, the greater the labor savings.
  • Corrosion resistance: One of aluminum’s greatest attributes is its natural rust and corrosion resistance which is greater than steel’s, making it an excellent choice for highly corrosive industrial environments, such as sewage plants, water treatment stations, filtration plants, and chemical plants.
  • Reflective and non-magnetic: Aluminum can be used to reflect visible light and radiated heat, making it extremely effective as an electrical conduit. It is also non-magnetic and useful for high-voltage applications and anywhere magnetic fields come into play.
